Community Work Study

My Role: Coordinator

Objective:  The CWS Program offers students the ability to learn real world experience at non-profit locations in the area while earning funds from the federal government.

Outcome: This academic year (2015-2016) was my first year being the lead coordinator of the CWS program. Since taking lead, I have successfully tripled student participation in the program. The program currently serves over 20 students at over 10 locations, such as: Sacred Heart Hospital, American Cancer Society, Guardian Ad Litem, Pensacola Museum of Art and so on. I also oversee the postings of all on-campus postings into JasonQuest (career database), which is over 90 postings per year.

"I have had a great experience with Career Services. Miss Carter is very helpful and is available by email and by personal visit whenever I have needed her. I had an issue with my placement that I needed advice on and Miss Carter gave me very good advice that has helped me work through my issue at my placement. I look forward to continuing my placement with the knowledge that I have a support system in Career Services."
